Yanahli Planning & Design Charrette

A team of Equinox’s ecologists, landscape architects, environmental and recreational planners, assembled in Maury County, TN in the Town of Columbia to conduct a week long charrette. Equinox' staff from left to right: Fred Grogan, Kim Williams, Owen Carson, and Hunter Terrell The goal was to meet with key stakeholder groups (recreation, health, environment, economic, etc.) and the public to both learn and share our findings from our detailed site assessment that explored opportunities and challenges of the roughly 470 acre park situated along the banks of the Duck River. The Duck River has been identified as one of the most biologically diverse rivers in North America.

On our last day of the charrette, our team developed two concepts to share with the community to gain their feedback based on the previous day’s work.  In just a week’s worth of time we spent a concentrated effort that resulted in clear direction for this amazing project to include river access, miles of trails, environmental education opportunities and much more.
