Meet Our Newest Staff Member

Equinox has yet again added another person to our fantastic team.  We are excited to announce that we have hired James Rogers to be our newest Environmental Scientist.  We are ready for him to jump into our work in Watershed Resources Planning, Regional and Land Use Planning, NEPA/SEPA Assessments, Stream and Wetland Assessments, and Partnership and Capacity Building.James Rogers, Environmental Scientist

James worked for both state and federal agencies before starting with Equinox, including NOAA and Western Carolina University.  His professional experiences have led him down several diverse paths radiating from an environmental science background. James earned his B. A. and  Masters of Science in Geography. So at heart, James is a Geographer with deep experience in Geographic Information Science (GIS), Fluvial Geomorphology, Watershed Hydrology and Cartography.  More recently, James has gained experience in science communication and science delivery, which he applies in teaching classes at UNC Asheville in the Environmental Studies department. He has conducted intensive stream surveys and fieldwork at the US Forest Service Coweeta Hydrological Lab under a National Science Foundation Grant.

James professional interests lie in how human and environmental systems behave, interact and affect environmental conservation. He has volunteered as a Watershed Policy Committee member for the City of Asheville. In his spare time he can be found tinkering on his MG, hiking local trails, cooking for friends and hanging out with his wife, dog and cat.
