Tarkiln Branch Stream Mitigation

This is an exciting project in which Equinox and its partners have combined large scale conservation and preservation with a stream mitigation to protect the headwaters of a critical watershed while also providing financial compensation for the landowners. This project, which is a Mitigation Bank will provide stream mitigation credits to compensate for impacts to Waters of the United States and/or State Waters within the French Broad Watershed in Transylvania County. The property is approximately 600 acres in size and contains 36,000 feet (6.8 miles) of streams. The preservation of these streams and the associated uplands surrounding the streams will provide ecological benefits within the regionally-important French Broad River Basin.  Mitigation credits for this project are available now.
