Hunting Creek is on North Carolina's impaired waters list due to a compromised fish community. Using data collected during a watershed assessment and in consultation with a stakeholder advisory group, a 10-year plan describing watershed management actions that address stormwater runoff from impervious surfaces and lack of woody vegetation in riparian areas was prepared. Implementation of the plan is expected to lead to improved water quality and aquatic habitat conditions that will allow Hunting Creek to be removed from North Carolina's 303(d) impaired waters list.
