Harrell Stream and Wetland Restoration

Client: North Carolina Division of Mitigation Services

The Harrell Stream and Wetland Mitigation project is a NC Division of Mitigation Services full delivery site that flows into Caney Fork located in Jackson County. Equinox worked with the landowner to voluntarily restore approximately 2,850 feet of perennial streams and 1.8 acres of wetlands. The landowners were paid to place a conservation easement on the restored stream and wetlands that are now protected from future development. Equinox and our partners provided restoration design and engineering, protection of an Eastern Band of Cherokee cultural resource site, and environmental reviews. Equinox is also providing long term monitoring of the restoration site to assure its viability.
