With growing demand for camping, lake access, and scuba diving, Duke Energy tasked Equinox with creating conceptual plans and construction documents for a non-motorized lake access, overflow trailer parking, as well as additional boat-in only campsites for Devils Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee in South Carolina. Large lake fluctuations allowed Equinox to explore unique design solutions for lake access and stormwater management. Due to the sensitivity and topography of the site, Equinox minimized disturbance and designed three bioretention cells to treat stormwater. This constructed project now allows for easier access to the lake for non-motorized users and showcases 25 primitive campsites with beautiful lake views.
