Stage Road Park & Greenway

Client: Town of Jonesborough

The park features active play areas (playground, basketball courts, and trail) as well as passive recreation areas including an innovative stormwater design that features concentric wetland circles connected to each other through two planted bioswales lined with locally found river rock and native plantings. This series of stormwater wetlands are designed to flood in stages. The design provides for access into the wetland areas, for children to play and explore from the greenway trail and grass pathways along the outside edges of the concentric circles, which lead visitors into the heart of the space. This project helps the Town of Jonesborough manage stormwater and flooding while providing nature based and active recreation and education for its residents.
