Working for the Appalachian Trail Conference Land Trust, Equinox developed a manual of Best Design Guidelines along the 2,167 mile Appalachian Trail to help maintain the trail’s setting and values such as picturesque vistas, wildlife habitat, and valuable historic sites. Utilizing the US Forest Services principles based on the Landscape Aesthetics: A Handbook for Scenery Management; Equinox Developed guidelines based on the trail users experience focusing on landscape visibility, landscape character, and scenic integrity.
