Junior Planner

The incumbent will contribute to the preparation of recreation plans such as greenway and park master plans, multimodal improvement projects, streetscape plans, and water/natural resource efforts.  He or she will develop documents for planning projects that are graphic rich, conduct data collection, provide planning, conduct natural resource analysis, provide GIS Mapping, and assist with agency coordination and public outreach.

The ideal candidate shall demonstrate the following skills:

  • Self-motivated with attention to details and ability to think critically (Must be able to work independently and as a part of project teams.)
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent professional technical writing skills
  • Ability to make visually appealing and easy to read maps with GIS and/or CAD is strongly desired Ability to organize and analyze data in GIS is a plus
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of organization
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Ability to get things done correctly and timely with minimal guidance
  • Ability to organize work and effectively manage time
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Resourcefulness when responding to time sensitive situations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Experience with Microsoft suite (i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Excellent command of Adobe suite (i.e. InDesign, Acrobat, etc.)

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience
  • B.S. degree in planning, environmental science,  urban planning, natural sciences, landscape architecture, or a related field
