Alexander’s Ford Park & Greenway

Client: Alexander's Ford

Equinox worked with Polk County, a local land trust, and the National Park Service (NPS) to craft a Master Plan and construction drawings for Alexander’s Ford, part of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail (OVNHT). The Alexander’s Ford site was the last encampment for approximately 1,600 mounted militia men camped at the site on October 5, 1780 prior to the battle at Kings Mountain during the Overmountain Victory campaign. The design included a trail system, overlook, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, signage, access road, parking, picnic shelter and kiosk.
